Hello My Name Is...
 Mr.  Kendell  Dwyane  Stewart

Hello!  I'm Kendell Stewart one of two art teachers at Hueytown High School.  I have taught at Hueytown High for more than seventeen years.  Classes I have taught during my tenure here are Visual Arts level one and two, Sculpture and Crafts.  This year, I am teaching Visual Arts levels one and two.  This year I will teach a class titled "Foundations of Art with Audio Visual and Communications". I was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama.  I attended Wenonah Elementary School (1st - 8th grades).  Then attended Jones Valley High School (1981 Graduate).  After high school, I attended and graduated (1986) from Jacksonville State University majoring in Visual Art and minored in Physical Education. October 8, 1988, I enlisted into the military (Army).  I am a war veteran (Desert Storm).  I served in the military for five years and four months.  Within those five years I obtain the rank of Sergeant, was highly decorated, served in several across the USA and multiple countries abroad.  I move back to Birmingham, Alabama in 1996 and worked all types of jobs from warehouse employee to substitute teacher.  it was during the time that I was a substitute teacher that i decided to my Education a career.  So 1997, I enrolled at The University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) to become Certified to teach art graduating 1999.  Teaching art to wonderful students has been my joy every since.
