Reach for the Stars!!This is your child's opportunity to show everyone in the county and state what we can do here at Hueytown High School. The teachers have prepared your children so well--make sure to encourage your child to do their best work during this testing time!

We will begin testing promptly at 8am, so everyone needs to be in their classroom, calm, cool and ready to go no later than 8am. If your child checks in after testing has begun, they will not be allowed to enter the testing room, nor will they be allowed to test with their class. Please have your child at school on time so he/shecan take advantage of this opportunity to identify current academic readiness for college and career, predict performance on the ACT, determine skills needing improvement, and explore how career aspirations align with your child's interest. Your child's lunch schedule may be adjusted slightly in the event that testing impacts your child's normal lunch time.

**Taken from Alabama State Department of Education Policy, Use of Digital Device during the ADministration of a Secure Test

Student Policy:
The possession of a digital device (including but not limited to cell phone, apple/android watch, MP3 players, cameras, or other telecommunication devices capable of capturing or relaying information) is strickly prohibited during the administration of a secure test, testing for the students will cease, the device will be confiscated and is subject to search, the student will be dismissed from testing, and the stiudent's test will be invalidated.

While testing is very important to our school and community, we feel EVERY DAY at school is important to our children's futures. Testing certainly should be treated seriously, but not in such a way that students are overly worried or nervous. To make sure our students do their absolute best, please help them remember to get a good night's sleep, have a healthy breakfast, and take all vitamins and medications in their daily routines. Encourage your child every morning to work all problems, read thoroughly and show their best effort. Many times, a little confidence is all a child needs to put forth amazing efforts.

If you have any questions about the testing schedule, the specific test format, or if you need any additional information, please contact me at the school (379-4162 or djefferson@jefcoed.com).

We know how wonderful our students are here, and now we have an opportunity to show everyone else. Our children are going to do a great job--thanks for supporting them as always!!!
