On Saturday, February 18th the Hueytown High School science olympiad team competed against 15 teams from our areas and from around the state. They competed against private, magnet, and science and math schools. They placed 5th at this competition and for the first time in Hueytown’s history qualified for state. This competition will be held at Auburn University on Saturday, April the 1st.
Although this is a team competition, there are 23 separate events in which students compete in pairs.

Tony Dunn also placed 5th in Dynamic Planet without a partner
Jonathan Turner and Carly Simmons placed 5th in Materials Science
Angel Moreno and Joshua Edmonson placed 4th in Chemistry
Angel Moreno and Aubrey Shaw placed 4th in Ecology
Angel Moreno and Sid Fannigan placed 5th in Robot Arm
Preston Poskarbiewicz and Hollie Files placed 3rd in Electric Vehicle
Joshua Edmonson and Jonathan Turner placed 3rd in Hover Craft
Preston Poskarbiewicz and Erica Anderson placed 4th in Rocks and Minerals
Aaron Brown and Joshua Edmonson placed 5th in Helicopters
Aubrey Shaw and Carly Simmons placed 1st in Write it Do It
This is an excellent accomplishment and opportunity for these students
